Pack and Go alternative: move and rename files in place, without copying
Pack and Go is great for copying an assembly with all its parts somewhere else. But if what you really need is to rename a file in your archive or move its folder, a copy doesn't solve it.
What Pack and Go does
Pack and Go copies every file an assembly or drawing uses to a location you choose; it can add prefixes/suffixes to the copies, include drawings and simulation results, and zip the result. References inside the copies point to the new names.
The original files stay as they are. If you want to fix a part name in your archive or reorganize folders, the other assemblies that use the original never hear about it.
What Refkeep does
Refkeep moves or renames the file in place and fixes the path inside every assembly and drawing that uses it — closed files and uses in other projects included. Renaming folders, drag & drop and batch rename (prefix · suffix · find-replace) work the same way; the last 20 operations can be undone.
Refkeep also has a Pack command like Pack and Go: it copies the files a model uses (optionally with drawings) to another folder, batch-renames them, rewrites references inside the copies and can zip the result.

Which one when?
- Pack and Go: sending a project to a customer or supplier, copying with simulation results, deriving a new variant from a design.
- Refkeep: renaming files in your archive, changing folder structure, fixing wrong names, finding and repairing broken links — on the original files, safely.
They aren't rivals; most teams use both.

Frequently asked questions
Can Refkeep replace Pack and Go?
For copying and batch renaming, mostly yes (Pack). If you need simulation results, appearances or "flatten to fewest folders", keep using Pack and Go.
Can Refkeep damage my original files?
Each repair is made on a copy and verified first; if it fails, the original is untouched. A version is taken before repairs, deleted files go to a recycle bin, and recent operations can be undone.
Does SOLIDWORKS need to be open?
No. Refkeep runs standalone — or, if you like, as an add-in in the SOLIDWORKS task pane.
